EYBA SEASON CALENDAR OUTLINE

Regardless of how we put the teams together, the EYBA has 3 rounds of play to help place teams where they fit into each tier. For example, a team that starts off in EYBA’s U11 Tier 4, could move down to Tier 5 or up to Tier 3, depending on results round to round.

Practices:

Practices may take place any weekday evening of the week. Weekday practices would be between the hours of 6pm-10:00pm, with priority given to the coach’s availability. Typically, younger teams will have the earlier slots.

Athletes on Tier 1 & 2 teams MAY have 2 practices per week, dependent on gym availability. Practices are 60-90 minutes in duration, depending on the age category.

At times, school gyms are under "blackout" days, which means the court is not able to be used. In this instance, teams may be combined with another team for practice or rescheduled if we can get the gym space. Under rare circumstances, teams may have their practice cancelled for that week. Please check the website each week.

All Practices are in Spruce Grove or Stony Plain.

Formation of Teams - Coach/Athlete Requests:

Parkland does everything in the best interest of the teams and the athletes involved. We ask our members to respect the process that is required to help best develop your child. Requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Our association is for the players and their development, and we expect to have the support of all parents/guardians with this.

Only under extreme circumstances with coach/athlete and athlete/athlete requests be considered.

Evaluations / Tryouts:

All registered athletes will be placed on a team.

Evaluations Dates TBA: Tentatively Between August 26- September 11th 2025. (Announcement August 23rd)

REFUND POLICY:

Refunds may be granted on cancelled registrations for the 2023/25 Fall/Winter season as follows:

  • $50 per athlete is non-refundable (a “full refund” will be less a $50 non-refundable administration fee), regardless of the reason for cancellation.
  • Refunds requested before teams are formed will be subject to the $50 administration fee.
  • Refunds requested after teams are formed are subject to a non-refundable $200 administration fee.
  • Registration fees are NON-REFUNDABLE after the first SCHEDULED week of games for the 2024-2025 Season.

WAITLISTED PLAYERS:

  • When an age category reaches it's current capacity of registrations a waitlist will be activated on our registration server.
  • Each waitlist will be capped at the number of athletes required to field an additional team in that age category.
  • Once a coach is confirmed for the waitlisted athletes, those athletes will be moved off the waitlist into the designated package and fees will be due, and then another waitlist will be created with the same parameters.
  • There is a non-refundable $10.00 waitlist fee to cover the admin fees associated with the waitlist registrations.

 NOTABLES:

  • Registration is by birth year.  NO OVERAGE PLAYERS are allowed in any EYBA division, regardless of how close a player may be to a lower division. (Exemption would be for players with severe medical/physical disabilities).
  • Requests to play in a higher age division are considered on a case-by-case basis.  Requests must be emailed to info@parklandbaskeball.ca  prior to registering.  If a request is made, the player MUST attend their scheduled evaluation/ tryout. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • 18U “Winter “players are ineligible to play on both a community team and their high school's senior team at the same time, so the season is split into Fall and Winter. Fall is open to all age-appropriate players.
