Important Message From Our Program Director

Sep. 18, 2021

Dear valued member,

Many questions have come in since our most recent update yesterday. We just want to take a moment to provide some clarity as we move into the new AHS temporary emergency restrictions set to take place September 20th - October 3, and the new restriction exemption program the Saville Community Centre has chosen to implement starting Monday.

We just want it to be clear these are intended to be temporary measures. The EYBA has a meeting slated this Sunday to discuss how the current changes will affect when and where programing may take place. We understand these new temporary restrictions may pose a problem for many families.

In the meantime we ask you to please keep the following in mind before you decide on whether to continue with participation in the upcoming season that ends in March for most programs:

  • Although we have some evaluations being held this Saturday at the Saville centre, before restrictions are put in place, we may be moving evaluations scheduled for the 25th to a new location or rescheduling all together
  • Regular season for Jr.NBA, U9, U11, 13, and U15 may not commence until after Thanksgiving or as late as November 1st when we get are hoping to have access to schools which currently do not require a restriction exemption program
  • Restrictions may no longer be in place when the season commences
  • All Practices and skill training sessions will take place in Parkland County Schools
  • NOT ALL GAMES are at the Saville Centre
  • All Jr.NBA and U9 programs will take place locally in Parkland Schools
  • Current state of emergency and the restrictions imposed by Saville centre are intended to temporary and may in fact no longer be in place by the time we commence
  • Current temporary restrictions at the Saville do not apply to those under 12
  • Saville Centres no Spectator policy is temporary
  • Current state of Emergency will be under constant review and change
  • U18 programming is currently slated to start October 2 and runs until mid November with a total of 9-11 games. Restrictions or start dates may change as early as October 3rd. We will know more after EYBA’s meeting this Sunday.

We do understand and empathize with how much stress and confusion all these changes and uncertainties are causing for many of you. Your safety and well being is our number one concern, and we are working as hard as possible to provide clarity and find solutions that allow us to get kids back out there enjoying sport and healthy living. With the steady decline in mental health during this pandemic, we feel is more important than ever to provide some form of activity and normalcy to our community.

Another update will be sent out Monday September 20th following the EYBA emergency meeting.

We humbly thank you for your continued support and patience we have been forced to lean on so many times over the past 18 months. We are truly grateful for the understanding you have shown our team of volunteers.

Best regards,

Jay Ouellette
